The “2025 Inner Mongolia Conference on High-Quality Development of Educational Opening-up” was held in Hohhot on August 27th and 28th, under the guidance of the Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and co-hosted by Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology and Inner Mongolia Technical University of Construction. The conference, with two separate sessions on higher education and vocational education, brought together over 300 guests, including leaders from domestic and international universities, experts, scholars, and representatives from businesses and industry associations.
In a significant display of international educational collaboration, a high-level Egyptian delegation led by Wang Rui and Zhao Yuling, Deputy Secretaries-General of Sino-North Africa Education Innovation Association, SNAEIA, attended the conference, featuring the presidents of several leading institutions in Egypt: Professor Mohamed Watany Mohamed Elsayed, Workers University, Professor Gamal Tag Abdeljaber Abdelkader, New Assiut Technological University, Professor Montasser Marasy Abdelati Dewidaer, Samannoud Technological University, and Professor Ahmed Saad Ali Mohammed, Egyptian-German College of Assiut International Technological University, underscoring the growing academic ties and shared commitment to innovation between China and North Africa.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Mohamed Watany Mohamed Elsayed, President of the Workers University, Egypt, expressed in his speech the desire for educational cooperation between Egyptian and Chinese college and universities. He looked forward to mutually beneficial collaborations between Egyptian and Chinese universities in professional fields such as joint educational programs, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation, to achieve tangible outcomes from pragmatic cooperation.
Through the platform of SNAEIA, Inner Mongolia Technical University of Construction, and New Assiut Technological University formally signed a cooperation agreement at the opening ceremony, covering a number of educational cooperation and exchange projects, including the export of educational standards.
Prof. Gamal Tag Abdeljaber Abdelkader, President of the New Assiut Technological University, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony. Speaking on “The China-Egypt Vocational Education Cooperation Model”, he outlined Egypt’s higher-education architecture and his institution’s internationalization strategy, while setting forth a comprehensive vision for expanded collaboration with Chinese universities.
During the conference, Mr. Wang Rui, on behalf of the SNAEIA, held a succession of high-level bilateral consultations with college and universities’ leaders from Inner Mongolia responsible for foreign affairs and international; cooperation, heads of relevant administrative departments, and representatives participating. During the conference, Mr. Wang presented a comprehensive overview of the Association’s strengths and capabilities in serving as a strategic bridge, backbone force, foundational platform, and goodwill envoy linking Chinese and North-African higher-education stakeholders. He elaborated on the type of project the Association supports, models of cooperation, outcomes achieved, best practice cases, and underscored its recent contributions to the high-quality advancement of the Future Africa and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The conference focused on new opportunities in the internationalization of higher education, university internationalization efforts, AI-powered innovation in higher education, the cultivation of globally skilled talent, innovative mechanisms for industry—education integration, and the globalization of vocational education. Through keynote speeches, themed salons, and round table discussions, attendees engaged in in-depth exchange on key topics, pathways, and models for educational opening up, as well as best practices from relevant institutions and enterprise. Also, it is first time for the sponsors to organize A Youth Exchange Forum between China and foreign countries.
