Shijiazhuang Institute of Railway Technology has become the first higher vocational college in Hebei Province which establish Chinese Workshop in abroad. The institute has signed a joint construction agreement with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Morocco. Since its launch in 2023, the project has been tailored to meet the need of member companies of the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Morocco, offering customized teaching and vocational training programs. By expanding the “Chinese + N Majors” talent development program, they are jointly developing high-quality “Chinese Workshop” in Morocco.
On June 15, 2025, Shijiazhuang Institute of Railway Technology successfully completed its Chinese Workshop overseas teaching mission in Morocco, conducting a 15 day overseas teaching and training program for Chinese-funded enterprises in Morocco, including China Harbour Engineering Morocco and SINOTRUK INTERNATIONAL Morocco. On deepening of economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative the demand for interdisciplinary talents with both Chinese language and vocational skills is growing. The Chinese Workshop is playing an increasingly prominent role in advancing both education and training in “Chinese + vocational skills”, promoting industry–education integration, and fostering mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign communities.
(The following is a forwarded news report from Shijiazhuang Institute of Railway Technology)
Recently, two teachers from international teaching team of Shijiazhuang Institute of Railway Technology, Bi Lihong and Dai Yanhui, were dispatched to the “Chinese Workshop” in Morocco to conduct a 15 day overseas teaching program for Chinese enterprises such as China Harbour Engineering Morocco and SINOTRUK INTERNATIONAL Morocco. They successfully completed all assigned tasks and received warm welcome and high praises from both companies and local employees.
Targeted research and curriculum design focused on enterprise needs. To ensure the effectiveness of this program, the college held multiple rounds of communication with the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Morocco and conducted in-depth research on the talent development needs of overseas Chinese enterprises. Focusing on “Professional Chinese + Professional Skills”, they developed a talent development program centered around professional courses in construction, port operations, and mechanical manufacturing. A variety of cultural salon activities were also designed to comprehensively support local employees in enhancing their professional skills and experiencing traditional Chinese culture.
Meticulous organization and dynamic teacher–student interaction sparked intellectual engagement throughout the program. Adapting to the characteristics of overseas teaching, instructors Bi Lihong and Dai Yanhui prepared thoroughly and taught with academic rigor. Guided by real-world engineering scenarios, the training incorporated rich video materials, case studies, and live Q&A sessions, helping participants gain a deep understanding of professional knowledge, from equipment operation instructions to project management communication. The program systematically enhanced employees’ professional language proficiency. Chinese corporate culture and industry standards were integrated into the training, allowing employees to improve their skills while deepening their understanding of Chinese corporate management philosophies and professional values. Through active questioning and answering, teachers and students engaged in lively and meaningful exchanges.
Carefully designed cultural activities deepened China-Morocco friendship. The two teachers meticulously organized a rich array of hands-on cultural experiences. During the paper-cutting activity, participants explored intricate patterns with scissors in hand, gaining a firsthand appreciation of the artistry of Chinese folk traditions. In the calligraphy activity, they experienced the unique charm of Chinese calligraphy through each brushstroke. By immersing themselves in the elegance of China’s traditional culture, the trainees developed a deeper understanding of and affinity for Chinese culture.
This training program is a significant measures toward the high-quality development of Morocco’s “Chinese Workshop”. The overseas teaching program received strong support and guidance from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under China’s Ministry of Education, as well as attentive assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Morocco. Moving forward, the college will continue to consolidate best practices, strengthen alignment with enterprise needs, and provide high-quality, high-standard training services for Moroccan talent employed by Chinese enterprises overseas, contributing to deepening cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Morocco.
